WHO AM I
I grew up on a farm in Lancaster, PA. Both my parents are followers of Christ and taught me ever since I was young about the Bible. When I was 7 I prayed with my Dad for Christ to come into my life. Looking back I think I was doing it out of fear of hell than a repentance of sin. When I was 13 I went through a very difficult, dark time in my life with depression. Through that season was when I really believed and trusted whole heartily in the Scriptures. God chose to heal and transform my life. Through my teen years God continually worked in my life and showed me who I was in Him, my purpose and worth, and my identity in Christ(something I'm still learning everyday).
In August of 2016, I went to Costa Rica for a 9- month GAP program with Score International. It was one of the most influential and transformative years of my life. It's hard to express in words everything that happened and changed in my own heart, mind, and life there. I learned the importance of truth found in God's Word(the Bible isn't boring guys, like at all, it's freaking AWESOME!), I learned more of what it looks like and means to be a follower of Christ in practical ways, the BIGNESS of God(not sure if I learned that because literally it's unlearnable[is that a word?] basically, he's huge, holy, and sovereign). I was able to see the body of Christ working together in a close community of believers and was able to make friends that will last a lifetime. I experienced how it is to live in a cultural different than my own and the struggles that go with learning a different language.
This coming August, I'm planning on returning to Costa Rica to be an intern with the GAP Program. I will be doing life along side the students next year just on a bit of a different schedule as I will have other responsibilities than them. My main role as an intern will be to pour into and serve the students next year through prayer, weekly Bible study, and just being available. As well as helping out doing daily tasks like making sure the villa is stocked with food, grading tests, leading groups, keeping in contact with parents, organizing schedules, etc.
What is the GAP Program?
The GAP Program is a 9-month intensive opportunity to study the Bible, Spanish and participate in weekend ministry while living in an entirely new culture. It's for High School graduates ages 18-25.
