2 Chronicles 5:11-14
And when the priests came out of the Holy Place (for all the priests who were present had consecrated themselves, without regard to their divisions, and all the Levitical singers, Asaph, Heman, and Jeduthun, their sons and kinsmen, arrayed in fine linen, with cymbals, harps, and lyres, stood east of the altar with 120 priests who were trumpeters; and it was the duty of the trumpeters and singers to make themselves heard in unison in praise and thanksgiving to the Lord), and when the song was raised, with trumpets and cymbals and other musical instruments, in praise to the Lord,
“For he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever,”
the house, the house of the Lord, was filled with a cloud, so that the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud, for the glory of the Lord filled the house of God.
2 Chronicles 6:18
“But will God indeed dwell with man on the earth? Behold, heaven and the highest heaven cannot contain you, how much less this house that I have built!
Jesus is the point. I bet you never heard that before;) haha but as I was reading through 2 Chronicles that's the thing that kept coming to mind. Jesus, God dwelling with man is the reason why we do GAP, why I'm living in Costa Rica this year, why we have purpose, worth, and life. So many times I want to be the point. I want to be a good intern, I want to be confident and know what's going on. I don't want to fail or mess up or sin. But Christ has been showing me that even when I feel like I fail or when I feel like I'm doing a good job it's all about HIS glory. His name being made high EVEN in my weaknesses & my strengths. Why would I want to do really well at interning? I know the correct answer would be to bring glory to God but many times the reason I would want to be a good intern is so PEOPLE will SAY "KALE, she's such a good intern!" God has been so faithful lately in showing me where I'm weak and in some ways crushing my pride. All I have to say is IT'S. ALL. ABOUT. HIM.
This week the students started Spanish and Bible class. It's been good to be on somewhat of a routine schedule. Some of you might be asking what is a routine schedule? I'm glad you asked😛 Tuesday- Friday students have Spanish class from 8:45-11:45 am and Bible class from 1- 4 pm. It's been so cool to hear the students processing what their learning in class with each other. On Tuesday nights we have small group time. I'm co- leading a girls small group with our student life director, Laura. This past week we got to share our stories with each other and how Christ saved us. Saturday everyone is split up into different groups all doing ministry in separate places. We partner with long- term missionaries here for all our ministries so that when GAP ends the ministry does not. I will be leading 3 Gappers to Los Angeles, Costa Rica to do a kids club there with one of the missionary couples here, Rajesh and Amy. On Sunday mornings everyone goes to a Spanish church most times connected with their ministry. 6 Gappers and I will be going to a local church here, Princípe de Paz (Prince of Peace) every Sunday. Sunday night we have a little church service at the villa where we share what God has been teaching us in the past week, spend time in reflection, and read the Word. On Monday it's the students day off which is normally filled with playing sports and hanging out with each other.
For staff a week looks a little different. On Monday we're hanging out with the students and building relationships. Tuesday me and a few others do a PriceSmart run and buy all the food for the villa for the next week. Wednesday is Alicia's(the other girl intern), Laura's, and I day off. During the week we're able to sit in on some of the Bible classes which has been so good to soak in for the second time. A lot of what interning is, is being present for the people here. Praying, listening, and being willing to do whatever needs to be done with a Christ- centered attitude wether thats working on spreadsheets or meal planning for 40+ people. It's a lot of life on life discipleship. People have been awesome at pouring into me and showing me what it looks like to follow Christ in every area of life and by God's grace that is what I want my life to reflect.
Prayer:
(1) For wisdom in knowing when to listen and when to speak.
(2) For the kids club in Los Angeles. Pray that kids would come and not only have fun but would hear the Gospel and be changed by it.
(3) For the students health and emotional strength. There has been a lot of physical sickness and some homesickness recently.
Praise:
(1) For mentors, friends, and the body of Christ here and around the world. I love ya'll!
(2) A good week of Spanish, Bible, and ministry!!
(3) For JOY and laughter.
En Cristo--Kale
